Macaroni and Cheese Recipe Card

 

Easy Homemade Baked Macaroni and Cheese

4 cups or 1 lb. box elbow macaroni                      5 Tbsps. Butter
5 Tbsps. Flour                                                    2 cups Milk
3/4 to 1 lb. American Cheese  (can be varied to how cheesy you want it)
1/2 Tsp Pepper, 3/4 Tsp Salt and a dash of ground Nutmeg
Into 8qts boiling water, add elbows, cook until andante, 5-8 minutes, drain and set aside.
In a saucepan, on medium to low heat, add butter, melt butter, whisk in flour, when
completely blended, gradually whisk in milk.  This will start quickly thickening up,
keep whisking until its a thick creamy sauce (coats spoon, no lumps!)  Add spices.
Start gradually adding the cheese to the sauce,
until all cheese is in and melted and sauce is thick and creamy.
To a 3 quart covered casserole dish, add the cooked macaroni,
pour into it the creamy cheese sauce and optional toppings bread
crumbs or one drained can of stewed and cut up tomato's on top.
Bake at 325 for 35 - 40 minutes until it is bubbly.
